the alarm clock rang this morning and i saw that it said 7am. i laid in bed thinking for about half a second why the hell i was up that early because i didn't have class until 11....and that's when it hit me that i wasn't in school anymore and that i had to drag my ass out of bed NOW if i wanted to catch the 7:55 bart train to work...
gotta love mondays.
ang, sarah, and i had our mini roadtrip to la this weekend to visit tina i-ting ting. though we did only drive one way, i still consider it a roadtrip. sarah and i got into la at night on thursday and went straight to avis to grab our car rental. after arguing with the dude as to why i'm getting overcharged for my rental, even with my company discount, i finally got him to *illegally* reduce the costs. basically, i was informed that the rate i was quoted included the $25 for drivers being <25 years of age. after getting to the counter, apparently that was not the case and it was $25/day * that by 3 days and you get $75 + tax. HELL NO. after a little while of complaining, the kind dude found another company that covered the $25 fee for employees under 25. i was still pissed though, b/c we weren't getting the company rate and i totally know the contract back and forth because I DEAL with this exact shit everyday! bleh.
anyhow, got to our car, no doubt it was a chevrolet but had no idea it would look like a friggin hearst. sarah and i bust out laughing so hard because we'd be cruising around in what would later be dubbed as the "hearstmobile". it was this ugly purple car thing and yah, i'm sure you can totally imagine.
anyway, to spare you the nitty gritty details, here are the summary/highlights from the trip:
friday:
-went to go eat sandwiches and salads at the delicious DAMON & PYTHIAS! their slogan is soooo on the dot...definately food for the gods.
-went and got $1 cookie sandwiches at diddy reese
-shopped on robertson blvd...the street where most celebs are caught dropping pounds and pounds of dough on clothes that were made at 1/12345678909876543210th the price. it's insane how expensive things are at those stores. everything is so outrageously priced. think of urban outfitters on like super crack x 100000 and that's the kinda of prices you'll be seeing on anything in a store on that street. sarah and i hoped we'd run into some celebrities but alas, no celebrities were sought.
-got a pedicure. horray for acrylics and no more messed up big toe! we also got little flowers painted on our right big toe. awwww...how purrrrty.
-met up with tina, andy, laurie and ang and ate at HADORI! oh how i love thee. afterwards, we we to a friggin cute ass cafe called the yellow cafe. you can see it on tina's xanga. after the cafe, we went to bohemian to meet up with phoebe and helen + crew and down several shots of flavored soju. it was good seeing them!
saturday:
-was going to go to a sample sale with jimmy choo shoes but opted for sleep instead. good call on my part. not so fortunate for sarah and tina who went for it. they waited an hour in line only to go in and circle around for 3 minutes then leave because by that time, all that was left was crap.
-went shopping at melrose. tina, sarah, ang, and myself all got the same kinda of belt but in different colors. and then to keep up with tradition, i purchased 2 more belts (all 3 the same style) but in different colors. i can't seem to break that habit...i just can't choose one color!!!
-went to the tea station that i always go to in alhambra and drank some wonderful nai lu (green milk tea). hMMmmMM gotta love tea station.
-went to manna...and had hella good korean bbq. yay for only waiting 10 minutes. boo for them taking extra money for tip. and boo for them rushing us out of our seat since there was a line out the door. bastards.
-went to a club in hollywood called ivars. it was alright. getting in was interesting. felt like a "cheap and vicious" girl. guys and gals were definately better looking there then at the clubs here. was mesmorized at one of the pole dancers- minus-the-pole who wore these really lacy, cute thongy underwear while shaking her ass relentlessly. too bad she was a butterface. at least the drinks werre good, particularly the keylime pie.
-after clubbing, stopped at a taco truck and got food. gotta love the mexican food in LA. it's so authentic.
sunday:
-had chinese style breakfast...and for those of you who don't know what that means...YONG HE DO JIANG! yum! gotta love dan bings and mantos and fan tuans and shao bing you tiaos and jiu cai he zi. oiyeee...heaven.
-drove back to the bay in about 5 hours. yes, i have mad road skills. or maybe just road rage. either way, we got back safe and sound with no speeding ticket this time around. (yes, tracy, i can be taught). had a gluttony fest at mcdonalds on the way. chicken sandwich, filet-o-fish, and strawberry sundae. that is why, starting today, fitness plan goes into effect. horray for trying to be healthy.
monday:
-back at work. yippeee...
